Gallery Visit June

I visited a gallery for some inspiration at the weekend and found plenty. There were lots of abstract and semi-abstract paintings in a variety of colours and compositions. Abstract art has a unique way of engaging our perception, often invoking personal interpretations and emotional responses. I was really taken with some large abstract florals as they used some of my favourite colours including magenta and pale blue. Although close up you couldn’t recognise any flowers, on stepping back you could clearly see them. Aren’t our brains amazing, that they can fill in all the missing details for us?

It makes me think of the ink blot tests and how people see different things when they look at them and that in turn shows how our brain is working. I see flowers and landscapes in a lot of abstract work closely followed by figures. What does that say about me? My affinity for seeing flowers and landscapes might indicate my connection to nature and an appreciation for its beauty. What do you see?

Art work always looks better in person. You can move your head around to catch the light at different angles and move right in to see the physical texture. The colours are also the best they can be as photos often change the colours slightly. Are there galleries near you that you could visit? Each piece of art offers a new perspective, a fresh burst of colors, and a chance to see the world through the eyes of different artists. Enjoy your artistic explorations!
